Generally, healthy individuals between 18 and 65 years old, weighing at least 50 kg (110 lbs), can donate blood. Specific health conditions, medications, or recent travel might affect eligibility. It's best to consult with the medical staff at the camp.
You can typically donate whole blood every 56 days (8 weeks). This interval allows your body sufficient time to replenish red blood cells. For other components like platelets, the frequency can be different.
Before donating, ensure you are well-rested, well-hydrated (drink plenty of water), and have had a healthy, iron-rich meal. Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours prior to donation.
Most people experience no side effects. Some may feel slight dizziness, lightheadedness, or bruising at the needle site, which usually passes quickly. Staying hydrated and resting helps minimize any discomfort.
